Harold Fry is a 65-year-old man who lives with his wife in an empty nest.

One day, he gets a post from a special person. The content of that post motivates him to write back. But seeing how replying through a post wouldn't be commensurate with the solid relationship he has had with this person, Harold decides to meet her. How? By walking 627 miles across England.

Harold is not someone who exercises, nor is he into walking, so when he decides to make this epic journey on foot, I questioned the sanity and rationality of it. Couldn't Harold have gotten there sooner with a more convenient mode of transport?

But Harold's determination to make it on foot wins out. Along the way, he meets kind, curious and loving people. People pour love onto him, to keep him moving along in his journey, albeit with blisters on his feet and toes. Some do express skepticism, but that doesn't deter him.

Does Harold eventually make it to his sought-out destination to meet this person? What is it that is unsaid in the first half of the book that is voiced in the second half that tethers Harold to this person who is situated at the other end of England and makes him so desperately want to meet her? Read this heartwarming book and have your answers :)
