Story
Founded on October 21, 2018, by Dhara Thakkar and Hastha Narayan, Bookaholics stands as Mangalore's first and largest book club. Guided by the motto, “For book lovers, by book lovers,” it has blossomed into an inclusive, no-cost community that wholeheartedly celebrates the art of reading. What initially began as a platform for book reviews has since evolved into a dynamic space that hosts reading sessions, storytelling events, workshops, and various initiatives in schools and organizations. In June 2024, Bookaholics expanded its reach with the launch of a Mumbai chapter and the inception of Bookaholics Junior, a branch dedicated to inspiring young readers with the tagline “Books and Beyond.” With “Coffee, Books, and More” as its essence, the club actively supports authors, bookstores, and book bloggers, while furthering the cause of reading through donation drives and community initiatives.

Meet The Team
Hastha Narayan: Co-Founder & Community Head
A Chartered Accountant by profession, Hastha is the heart and the helm of Bookaholics. She has steered the club with vision, care, and quiet resilience. From reviving the club in 2022 to shaping its vibrant present, she continues to lead with purpose, warmth, and an unwavering belief in the power of stories.
Bhagya Kulal: Lead, Events & Experiences
An IT professional with a deep love for stories, Bhagya breathes life into our gatherinigs— curating thoughtful events that bring readers together. With a flair for planning, she turns each meetup into a memorable experience.
Anoop Pai B: Lead, Tech, Operations & Meetups
An ambigrapher and an avid reader, Anoop is the backbone of our backend— from co-ordinating meetups to handling tech and internal systems, he ensures that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Sharon Diaz: Lead, Book Donations & Library Support
A former IT professional currently pursuing her Masters in Social Work, Sharon champions our outreach— heading donation drives and collaborating with community libraries. Her work ensures that books find new homes and new readers where they're needed most.
Dr. Ananya Madiyal: Lead, Communications & Design
A practicing dentist with a creative soul, Ananya shapes the voice and look of Bookaholics. From impactful posters to hearfelt captions, her design and messaging beautifully reflect the soul of our community.
