Bookaholics Junior was created with the vision of providing a dedicated space for young readers to connect, learn, and grow in their love for books. Initially, the Bookaholics community had a rule that individuals below the age of 18 would need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. However, after receiving requests from parents to create a more child-focused platform, the idea of Bookaholics Junior began to take shape. 

 

In May 2024, the spark for this initiative came from Mr. Srinivasan Nandagopal, a former senior journalist at The Times of India when he attended a Bookaholics meeting with his teenage daughter. After the meeting, Mr. Nandagopal approached with a thought and a request: if Bookaholics was ready to start a junior branch for kids, he would be happy to serve as the moderator.

 

Thus, with the support of the core team, Bookaholics Junior was officially launched in June 2024, with the tagline Books and Beyond. Mr. Nandagopal was appointed as the moderator, bringing his experience and passion for storytelling to the initiative. Bookaholics Junior hosts monthly meetings that focus on introducing kids to the world of reading and reviewing books, as well as storytelling sessions and various fun events that foster creativity and a love for literature.
