Synopsis: The witty soldier Vandiya Devan must adventure across the sea into the warring land of Elangai to find the young Prince Arulmozhi Verman, to relay upon him the treacherous plots shaping up in his home.

Review: This book sheds the political intrigue of Vol 1 to take the shape of a swashbuckling adventure, with many memorable scenes and visually stunning imagery. Unfortunately, many of my favourite characters from the first vol like Kundavai, Vanathi and Nandini have limited appearances in this volume, and instead it is focused on the titular Ponniyan Selvan, who is Ironically completely absent in the first volume of his own story.

Arul is a fine character, but it was the second new character introduced- Poonguzhazhi, who really steals the show. She is my favorite character: being a resourceful, pessimistic and adventurous young lady who really embodies the spirit of the titular "Storm".

I have progressed enough in this series to call it a "Masterpiece"
